A Purple Point of View - Vicki Yarker-Hitchcock, Clinical Supervisor and Nursing Consultant

The colour purple

Vicki first discovered her love of purple after her oldest son developed epilepsy which caused him to have life threatening seizures once a month. This resulted in him been admitted to ICU on a regular basis. It was at this low point in her life that she found herself wanting anything and everything purple. This passion for purple continued and became a point of view. Everything Vicki does is tinted with the colour, it was part of her journey back from despair, part of finding out who she is.

It has a very special meaning to her... "a purple point of view" which she shares with those she works with.

About the colour purple:

It is said that purple is suggestive of controlled passion, seriousness and creativity. People who favour purple tend to be emotional, creative, and sophisticated. Purple is often associated with mystery, wisdom, and the spiritual. It is defined as elegant and refined, especially when used in it's deepest, darkest shades.
