A purple point of view is one expression of the skill and passion of Vicki Yarker-Hitchcock, a New Zealand registered nurse with 17 years experience in nursing.

I have just completed my Master of Arts Applied in Nursing with my thesis in Clinical supervision and I am  committed to helping nurses to care for themselves.

"Clinical Supervision"
Developing the Practice and the Practitioner

So what is this thing called "clinical supervision"? There are many definitions but all agree that it is a formal process of support and learning, it involves discussion and reflection with a colleague in a safe environment with the purpose of developing competence, taking responsibility for one's own practice and ensuring quality patient services. We must also remember that it is also about developing self-awareness.

'..Nursing is a profession that needs immense commitment, high levels of skills and often considerable courage. We must care for nurses so they can begin to care properly for their patients.' quote from the Daily Post Fri September 8th 2000
